Books That Interest Me

image here I like most books about sports: baseball, basketball, cycling, and things like that. I also like to get baseball magazines to keep up with what's happening each season. And every day I read the sports section of the newspaper.

Sometimes I read books that have nothing to do with sports like Harry, Potter, The Martian Chronicles, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Phantom Tollbooth, and other books of that type.

July 2007

July 14: Today's the day! I have a little review this morning, then the bar mitzvah.

July 12: One day to go till rehearsal, two till the bar mitzvah. I think I'm ready!

July 9: Sometimes I think about other kinds of sports.I'm enjoying the Tour de France now. Robbie McEwan was great yesterday! But I promise I'll study today too.

It's the weekend before my bar mitzvah. I'm practicing my speech but still had time to go to a baseball game last night...go Dodgers!

Happy July 4th everyone! I'm still studying about three hours a day. There's still time to watch baseball on TV though.

It's July 1st. Two more weeks! I just finished my speech and hope the rabbi likes it.

June 2007

This month I'll have more sessions with my tutor to make sure I'm remembering the prayers. I have finals comng up in school and Little League playoffs soon so it's a lot to do! But baseball helps relax me so I can concentrate on my studies.

I'm practicing my Torah portion to become more fluent. Next week I meet with the rabbi to discuss my speech. I have no idea what to write about! But the rabbi will help me outline my ideas.

I'm learning the torah portion now. The cantor made a recording for me to study. I'm learning it backwards--first portion 5, then 4, then 3, then 2 and finally 1. This helps me because I know the end of the portion better than the beginning. I hope it helps!

I've been practicing my haftorah prayers and will meet with the rabbi to select what lines from the Torah I'll read to the congregation.
